Skincare and anti-ageing benefits of using fxmenopause

I'm often asked about the skincare and anti-ageing benefits of using fxmenopause. This write up gives a background to the skin care problems faced by women in the menopause and explains why using fxmeno is a good choice.

Skincare - Anti Ageing

To understand how we can keep youthful skin qualities, we need to look at the biology.

Our skin is composed of 3 basic materials that keep it looking and feeling good:

1. Collagen, which gives our skin strength.
2. Elastic Tissue which gives our skin its elasticity and “bounce back.”
3. Hyaluronic Acid which keeps our skin plump and hydrated.

Our body’s natural hormones are directly responsible for the production of these three key parts of our skin.

Most women are unaware that oestrogen levels start declining in women in their late 20’s, not in their 40’s. This gradual drop in oestrogen causes skin changes which are different from the two forms of ageing the skincare industry has typically focused on:

1. Chronologic Ageing– our skin continues to age, directly as we get older.
2. Environmental Ageing – due to sun damage, tanning and pollution.

This 3rd type of ageing, “Hormonal Ageing,” where decreasing oestrogen causes less Collagen, Elastic tissue, and Hyaluronic Acid to be made, is unique to women; it is separate and cumulative to the other forms of ageing and becomes most apparent during menopause when oestrogen levels can drop around 80%.

Research shows that Hormonal Ageing causes 12 distinct skin symptoms such as thinning skin; dehydrated, dry, sensitive skin; acceleration of fine lines and wrinkles; decreased elasticity and firmness; flushing and uneven skin pigmentation; occasional itchiness or breakouts; photosensitivity; and unwanted facial hair growth. Addressing Hormonal Ageing prior to the full onset of menopause greatly reduces these symptoms and the difficulty in reducing signs of ageing post menopause.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can reduce the symptoms of hormonal ageing, but HRT is no longer routinely prescribed since it was found to have dangerous side affects.

So what can a woman do to get an early start on treating the symptoms of hormonal ageing?

Research has shown that specific botanicals, principally phytoestrogens, can effectively reduce the symptoms of hormonal ageing. These phytoestrogens are being incorporated in innovative new products. Fxmenopause is one such product.

Now that you understand the 3 types of ageing, you can now make better choices and take preventative measures to keep your skin looking as young as you feel.

In practice benefits can take 6 to 8 weeks to become noticeable, this is due to the natural renewal cycle of skin.

Skin cells are constantly being born, rising through the epidermal layers to the surface and falling off. A young skin renews its surface layers every two to three weeks. A mature skin can take twice as long.
